Executive Boss of Social Security and National Trust, Victoria Gifty Abaidoo has proposed that the public has a responsibility of staying in touch with the institution to be informed about processes concerning their contributions.

She made this comment today, January 14, 2025, on the Wake Up Africa breakfast show a Dominion Television production.

As stated by Madam Gifty SSNIT is interested in paying accurate benefits to their contributors therefore the demand for contributors to follow through the process and not just assume their employers would act their part.

She stressed that contributors have to verify with SSNIT from time to time if their employers are paying and are paying on the right salaries. She stated how she had encountered similar instances where people have worked and assumed their contributions had been paid but their employers were not doing their part and since the contributor does not follow through with SSNIT they may hardly know until when it is needed.

Mrs. Abaidoo endorsed that most of their actions are confined by the law thus, SSNIT is mandated by law to give out intermittent benefits unless age 60. Nevertheless, in rare cases where there is a contingency, the contributor can bring a doctor’s report or evidence to confirm the incidence, there, the insurance body (SSNIT) would pay the victim their contributions. Only in cases such as this is SSNIT mandated to allow intermittent withdrawals before age sixty (60).
